ENGLISH YEAR 2008- BULLETIN BOARD COMPETITION

07th April 2008- The first English Year activity, the bulletin board competition which was conducted by Mdm. Wan Rahmah Wan Mohd. It was a time to test the students on their awareness and alertness on the latest information published on on the English Panel Bulletin Board. It was also interesting to note that when Mdm. Wan Rahmah posted her question during this morning School's Assembly....'There was SILENCE in the air' (As the Choral Speakers would usually say...shhhh) hehehehe. It was a moment of tense. No one dared to attempt to answer the questions. After 3 minutes of waiting, finally one contestant boldly went out and gave her shot. She is Wendy Inggu from Form 3 GA! Guess what? She did it, she answered correctly! Congratulations Wendy. Psst...can you tell us what did you get?

English Year 2008 - Season 3

31st March 2008- The Opening Ceremony of the English Year 2008 - Season 3. It was held during the school's morning assembly. The English Panel had prepared programmes to boost the interests of all the students and teachers to enhance their English Language usage. Many of these programmes are conducted in hope that both students and teachers would be encourage to use English as much as they can without fear. The theme for this year is 'DARE TO TRY'. This theme serves as a reminder that the first step to learn English is to have the attitude of 'Dare To Try'. We were truly impressed with our Principal, Mr. Johari Sabin when he delivered his speech in English. This realy encourages to the teachers and the students to try. Thank you for taking the challenge Mr. Johari. So come everyone, take this opportunity and join as many activities as you can!

Tan Hong Ming

New Straights Time, 1st April 2008-KUALA LUMPUR: Film-maker Yasmin Ahmad's TV commercial for Petronas in conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations last year bagged the top prize at the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival (Adfest 2008) in Pattaya, Thailand last Saturday.

The commercial, entitled Tan Hong Ming, is a heartwarming insight into children's innocence in the country's multi-cultural society.

It features an off-the-cuff and unrehearsed interview with a buck-toothed, spiky-haired and talkative primary school pupil, Hong Ming, who admits to having a secret crush on his classmate Umi Qazrina.

When the baju kurung-clad Umi is called to the camera, she shyly admits that Hong Ming is her boyfriend. The surprised and overjoyed look on Hong King's face is worth a million ringgit, as he quickly pulls Umi away and walks off with her.

The footage ends with a statement: "Our children are colour blind."

Yasmin, who has just returned from Melbourne for a private screening of her film Mukhsin, said she received news about her win through a friend who was at the event.

"The trophy arrived today and I am so excited. I was told that Tan Hong Ming is the only entry from Malaysia that won an award," she said.

Shot at Hong Ming's school in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Yasmin said for the commercial - a three-part Merdeka TV campaign series for Petronas - she interviewed 30 children "whose best friend is someone from another ethnic group."
